The Holding Space Project invites you on a contemplative journey through three sculptural installations set within the South Devon landscape.
The trail encourages curiosity and questioning. As you encounter each work, you are invited to reflect on your own experience of finding art within the landscape, and upon your relationship with both the sculptures and the place that surrounds them.
Rather than offering fixed meanings, the project creates space for personal response. Whether through conversation, drawing, photography, writing, making, or simply spending time with the works, every encounter is unique.
The Holding Space Project does not seek to communicate a single meaning, but to create the conditions in which meaning can emerge through encounter.
The trail will be open from the 16th of July during the ‘Love of the land’ festival in East Portlemouth, South Devon and will continue until the end of July 2026
creative or critical response to the trail is integral to the project; the following links offer means to submit anything that is inspired by your encounter with the holding space project and, in so doing, become part of the project itself.
